I hereby identify and bring to public attention that electronic and acoustic mechanisms integrated within heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are being utilized as triggering and directing instruments in organized sabotage and arson operations.
Within this framework, the technical dynamics and threat elements are structured as follows:
- Piezoelectric and Circuit Module Triggers: Square wave frequencies ranging between 2 kHz and 4 kHz generated by piezo buzzer hardware on the indoor unit printed circuit board (PCB) are converted into arc and ignition origins intended for arson by inducing overvoltage and short circuits through reverse switching and resonance manipulation.
- Acoustic Transmission Shafts and Sonic Weapon Risks: Uninsulated wall apertures (shafts) through which copper piping and drainage conduits pass between outdoor and indoor units serve as speaker and transmission conduits that directly convey externally directed resonance, static interference, and acoustic attacks into interior spaces.
- Exploitation of IoT and Remote Access: Embedded microphone and speaker arrays, alongside Wi-Fi modules integrated into smart air conditioning units, are illicitly exploited by cyber threat actors for unauthorized remote command transmission, acoustic surveillance, and malicious interference.
