I have raised many animals. I kept pigeons and goldfish. My mother used to breed aquarium fish right there on our land where the Garanti Bank branch stands today—she used to raise goldfish in the well. I raised rabbits, canaries, and budgies. I had dogs. Their names were Fındık and Alex, and during my time in İskenderun, my dog’s name was Duman. My current dog’s name is also Duman. I also had a stray dog with a brindled coat; my sister named him Tombi. The goldfish were named Gelincik, Demirel, Ecevit, and Tosun… just like corn poppies. She used to raise them while we were living in the Erman Apartment. I raised rabbits… and out in the yard, there were hunting dogs that my brothers-in-law had brought over. One was named Rudolf, and the other was Jessi. My grandfather had bought a German Shepherd puppy, and its name was Şeytan. We used to read comic books there, like The Phantom (Kızıl Maske) and his dog, Devil (Şeytan).
