Agenda in TurkeyIn the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), amendments to the laws on social media regulation, maternity leave and social services are being discussed.��The security forces have intensified operations against terrorist organizations, primarily FETÖ and DAESH, as well as against smuggling networks.��In domestic politics, local administrations, intra‑party resignations and heated debates in parliament dominate the agenda.��Iran, Iraq, the Middle EastThe ceasefire process between the United States and Iran is highly fragile; after the talks in Islamabad failed to produce results, the US began to take de facto blockade steps on Iranian ports and the Strait of Hormuz, increasing pressure in terms of “war risk and oil prices”.��Pakistan is calling for restraint to prevent the regional war from expanding, while Turkey and European countries are trying to keep diplomatic channels open.��In Iraq and the broader Middle East, the US–Iran confrontation, tensions along the Israeli front and the security of energy routes stand out as key dossiers affecting the entire region.��Russia, China, Japan, the US and EuropeRussia and China present themselves as “stabilizing partners” in the international system, yet geopolitical tensions with the West (NATO expansion, Asia–Pacific rivalry) continue.��The US administration under Trump is tightening the blockade and pressure on Iran, using it at the same time as part of a broader strategy to contain China.��In Europe (especially France, Germany and Italy), the crisis in the Middle East, energy prices, migration pressure and debates on “strategic autonomy” are at the forefront.��In Japan, security concerns stemming from China and North Korea, along with economic slowdown and technological competition, are major discussion topics.�The UK, France and the EUFrench President Macron stated that in his meeting with President Erdoğan, they discussed the Middle East, the Strait of Hormuz and regional security.�Across the European Union, the war in Ukraine, rising defense spending, migration and the energy transition (from fossil fuels to renewables) are among the main issues on the table.��The United Kingdom, meanwhile, is grappling with both domestic political instability and debates over a strategy of being “separate but close” to Europe.�Latin America and AfricaIn Africa, in countries such as Sudan, civil wars, severe poverty and the risk of famine are deepening as “forgotten crises”.��Africa and Latin America are gaining importance both as spheres of influence in the US–China rivalry and, for Europe, in terms of energy/raw materials and migration.��In Latin America, tensions between democracy and authoritarianism, drug cartels, economic crises and relations with the United States in the field of foreign policy form a hot agenda.��Current science and technology agendaIn the energy field, projects aiming at “unlimited, uninterrupted and zero‑carbon” energy production via super‑hot geothermal sources using gyrotron‑based deep drilling (for example, Quaise Energy’s Project Obsidian) are widely discussed.�Studies suggesting that climate change could affect the planet’s rotation speed and cause small changes in the length of days are attracting attention.��The 2025–2026 period is remembered for breakthrough‑level results in areas such as gene editing, evidence of past life on Mars, artificial intelligence and quantum physics.�
