SUBJECT: Request for Investigation Regarding the Transparency of Digital Data Flow During the Pandemic, the Utilization of Smart Device Hardware Capacities, and the Public Audit of Stored Data.
EXPLANATIONS:
During the COVID-19 global pandemic between 2020 and 2022, smart mobile devices owned by billions of people worldwide were used as primary tracking tools within the scope of pandemic management and contact tracing (filyasyon). However, there are serious doubts and allegations of rights violations regarding the scope of the technologies used during this process and the limits of data sharing disclosed to the public. Through this petition, we request the following matters to be audited by independent international boards:
1. Concealment and Underutilization of Hardware Capacity:
It is known that the hardware features already present in current smart devices (LiDAR, infrared sensors, barometers, and high-precision microphones) possess the technical capacity to detect aerosol density and “heavy water droplets” in the air. It is essential to investigate why these hardwares were limited to central tracking (Bluetooth/GPS) purposes instead of being used as an “early warning system” to protect public health, and whether this technical capacity was concealed from the public.
2. Storage of Digital Data and Transparency:
It must be clarified where the data collected through “Hayat Eve Sığar (HES)” and similar global applications during the pandemic period were stored, whether this data was matched with hardware sensor outputs (humidity, temperature, particle density), and whether this information was used in favor of certain groups as an undisclosed “digital shield.”
3. Suspicions Regarding Conscious Negligence and Public Health:
If the existing hardware can technically detect risky particle density in the environment and yet is restricted by software to prevent warnings from being issued to the public, this may constitute “conscious negligence” and a “crime committed against public health.” The suspicion that technology is used solely for surveillance purposes rather than protecting individuals is contrary to the democratic social order and individual rights.
CONCLUSION AND REQUEST:
For the reasons stated above, I respectfully submit and request:
- A retrospective audit of digital broadcasts and data traffic during the pandemic period under the coordination of the World Health Organization and relevant technology institutions,
- An audit of how smart device manufacturers “restricted” sensor capacities during public health crises,
- The opening of all collected data to the audit of independent scientists by anonymizing it, and the sharing of the truths with the global public.
